I guess I care about listening to people's hearts more than to their words. One time my seven year old son got tearfully frantically upset about losing a sports video game to a computer opponent and I decided to just totally listen and be present to this problem that seemed so trivial and shallow, and as I listened with all the being I could muster, the whole world and my whole heart opened up and I thought oh, this is what God feels like when he listens to us--just total love. and the story and the problem really were sooooo mundane. that's what i care about.
Telling people about the good news which can save them and change their lives. Being there for people when they need to talk, being able to help improve someones life. Teaching people as well, I love mentoring.
I care about people I love - especially my mom. I care about honesty and loyalty. But then sometimes I care about stupid shit that goes on around me and worry about that stupid shit.
I care about seeing God's kingdom in the here and now. Bringing healing (physical, mental, spiritual) and restoration (economic, social, etc) to hard places. One of my favorite ways to do this - because it can be the easiest and have startling results - is praying for sick people.
the wellness and health (mentally and physically) of my family and friends. I am not ashamed to say there are few of them but it just allows me to love them even more. I feel like if there was more people who qualified in this group.... I may affect my own wellness and health. So, the fewer, the more balanced the caring and reciprocation of that love is -- allowing it to be mutual. And I know in my heart that I am what those people care for as well. And so I guess I also care about knowing that I am cared for.
i care about letting people know they are loved and cared for, and making others feel meaningful, like they truly have a purpose. even if it's a small one. I also care a lot about literacy, which is a kind of funny thing to be passionate about, but alas. And, finally, I care about keeping my apartment clean.
I care about choice. What is most important to learning, structure, freedom, growth, and maturity (among other things) is choice. Teaching people that they have choices, often more than they thought they did. Getting them to understand that what they choose should be a reflection of themselves and that any good choice has in it at least some consideration for what might or might not happen (whether it is good or bad). Having the option to... be happy, love someone, be yourself, support someone, oppose someone, rest, work, be, not be.
I care about my families and my own health and happiness...both my tiny family of my husband and daughter and my larger family, parents, siblings, aunts, cousins. i care about feeling centered and happy..too easily i can get caught up in the day to day stress of this life but really life is short and ephemeral. it is up to me to stay focused on what is really important, so when stress comes at me I can handle it with grace and not be destroyed.
Photography. How my photography can make myself and others happy. How it can and will impact one person, or even the world. Making other people happy, without worry of appreciation or not. I care a great deal about others human beings, and even animals. [especially my own!]. And if nothing else works out, my biggest care is closure;
What do I care about? What do I care about? Hmmm... Worship. Hurting. Healing. Justice. Injustice. Praise. Honor. Selfishness. Pride. Thanksgiving. Joy. Sadness. Pain. Love that never fails. Forgiveness. Mercy. Perhaps, the question that goes with this is what do I DO about it?
I care about looking at what is ahead for me. Not losing to much time staring across the field of life to see where others are headed. A bit myopic as I ponder on steps to take but I do need to look around. I clearly care to look around for the company of friends and family. But I really care about experiencing lots of things on my own. Now I will tell you I came from a family with 7 siblings. Not surprising , huh?
Family and friends. In the long run it will make no difference how much money you made, what "position" you held, what material things you possessed...what will matter is spending time with loved ones...people that care about you and that you care about. Does anyone on their death bed have regrets about not having a sportscar, big house, etc....NO...they regret not having more time with those they are leaving behind.
Unfortunately my well being, I typically put what others think of me and what they need in front of my own needs. Time to shift the balance before I resent everyone around me even more.
I care about my family. My husband, two grown sons. their wives and our three grandchildren and all our dogs, past and present. I care about them all so much! Family is the most important concern in life. Care about my friends too. Without them I couldn't vent or have good times.

...mentoring younger women. If we don't step up and intentionally teach the next generation, they will learn from whomever is nearest.
ReplyDeleteListening. I want to hear the stories people tell as they make their way through this life. Watching, and waiting, and praying.

Finding someone's gifts that they might hide or be insecure about and encouraging them to use them. Wholeness.
